We want you to be happy with your books. This policy explains your rights and how to arrange a return or refund.
Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. If an item is faulty, significantly different from its description, or not fit for its purpose, you are entitled to a replacement or refund, and to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
Secondhand & antiquarian books
Most of our stock is secondhand or antiquarian, and each copy is unique. We describe the condition of every book as accurately as we can — please read the description and condition notes before buying. Normal signs of age and prior ownership consistent with a book’s stated condition are not faults.
Not as described or damaged in transit
If a book arrives not matching its description, or is damaged in transit, please email hello@spencerandmurphybooksellers.com.au within 7 days of delivery, with your order number and a photo. We’ll arrange a refund or replacement and cover return postage.
Change of mind
If you simply change your mind, you may return an item within 14 days of delivery provided it is in the same condition in which it was sent. Change‑of‑mind return postage is at your cost, and we recommend a tracked service. Once we receive and check the book, we’ll refund the purchase price (excluding original postage).
How to start a return
Email hello@spencerandmurphybooksellers.com.au with your order number and the reason for return, and we’ll send you instructions. Please don’t send items back before contacting us.
Refunds
Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method through our bank’s secure payment portal. Please allow a few business days for the funds to appear, depending on your bank.
