A collection of contemporary drawings, plans, and paintings that depict Soviet architecture of the 1920s through the 1950s, much of it until relatively recently remained unseen in Soviet archives, The authors discuss architecture of the Stalinist period, architecture which had a visionary quality and epic scale. The authors also discuss the history of the enormous architectural comppetitions which proved such crucial tools in the propagandistic mass culture of the era.
