Description

The "Darwin Rebellion" was a major demonstration of worker unrest in 1918 in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. It was a culmination of grievances against employers and government policies, including the White Australia policy, and culminated in a large protest at Government House where the Administrator, John Gilruth, was called upon to resign. The rebellion is considered one of the most significant events of civil disobedience in Australian history, second only to the Eureka Stockade. (Wikipedia)
